Gorenjska Chest

LesnaVesna

Furniture Design Gorenjska Chest by LesnaVesna A wooden chest, made of cherrywood is a reinterpretation of traditional fully-painted chests, once most prominent pieces of furniture in Gorenjska. Contemporary version changes the paint for wood and uses ethnographical elements of heart and carnation flower, both characteristic of the region. The hexagonal composition of the pattern is concise on the upper side and than gradually diminishing in size and disappearing as an image of the old memory, being erased by the pass of time. The pattern is machine-cut, but the finnish- as centuries ago- took long hours of hand-brushing and oiling.
