Platonic Lounge Chair

Francis Assadi

Furniture Design Platonic Lounge Chair by Francis Assadi The Platonic Lounge Chair is inspired by and named after one of the five Platonic solids, the cube. A total of 28 walnut cubes are joined by specially engineered stainless steel tubes to lend the chair its structural integrity and to accentuate the contrast between wood and metal. Its seemingly floating seat is made from thermo-formed Avonite, an impermeable solid surface material. The three structural elements of the Platonic allow for numerous combinations of materials, colors and textures, giving rise to a wide range of customizable iterations without ever diverging from its core design.
